Picasa2

Another Tutorial for Picasa2, with Screen Shots.

Here is a FREE program, I think you will like very much, Picasa2. I love it. It's not to replace IrfanView or any of your other Image program, but to use as a tool with them. I had Picasa2 scan my whole computer, and I was so surprised at all the pictures it found on my hard drive, even the ones I had double, and triple off. I saw pictures that I had forgotten, or I couldn't find. You can always remove the pictures, from Picasa2, and also delete them from the hard drive using Picasa2.

But!! please go through this tutorial before removing or deleting, I sure wouldn't want you to delete any images from the hard drive by mistake.

Picasa does not store your images, it just takes snapshots of all the pictures on your hard drive. If you were to uninstall Picasa for any reason, the images will still be on your hard drive.

In this first Screen Shot, you will see on the left side, all the folders I have pictures in and New Folder is highlighted, and on the right you'll see some of the pictures that are in there. I had named the folder New Folder, just to store pictures, until I have the time to put them in their right folder.

On the right side, you will see a picture highlighted, and if you look in the bottom left corner, you'll see the picture in there, that's called the 'Picture Tray' you can also have more then one picture in there by holding down on the 'Ctel' key while selecting two or more of the pictures.

In this Screen Shot, you can see that Picasa2 even brings up your Movie Clips. These Movie Clips were taken with my new digital still camera. You will also see double folders with the same name, that's because I have double and triple folders for most of my images, but in different places on the hard drice.

In this Screen Shot, you will see a 'Slide Out' window. What happen here, I had saved this screen shot, and Picasa2 had picked it up, and added it to the program.

Also you will see a tag, or note, not sure what it's called, anyway, it is telling you that you had added a picture to the picture tray.

Next one shows if you want to make a picture 'Collage' Here you will have to play with it, I haven't played with it yet, but I made a couple Screen Shots to give some idea.

Picture Collage

In this Screen Shot, at the top, you will see a button that says 'Timeline' on it, and under the the button, when you hover over it, a tag will come up, that says 'Timeline view of all your pictures'....Click!! on the button, it is so neat, it will fell the screen. I couldn't get a screen shot of it, I don't know why, it just wouldn't take. Well it has all the folders that swing around, and as the folders go around, there is a large black and white picture of the picture that is on top of the folder, and it is so pretty.

Now don't let this scare you, when you want to go back, just hit the 'Esc' key, or at the bottom left hand corner, you will see a button with four squares on it, click on it, and it will take you back to where you were.

Now, let's say, you have a picture you want to be able to find again right away, well all you have to do is add a Label to it, and it will put that picture in a special folder named 'Lables' In the lower lefthand corner, click on the 'Label' button, and name the picture. in the top left hand corner, you will see I already have two pictures labled...'Pretty' and 'Ashtin, now when I want to find that picture, all I have to do is go to the 'Labels' folder.

This is what I want you to be carefull of, if you click on Delete folder, you will get a message confirming if you want to delete the folder from your Hard Drive, that is in the next Screen Shot. if you click on the 'Yes' button, it will delete the folder from your hard drive, and it will be gone, gone for good, so make sure that's what you want to do.

I had already deleted the folder that shows in the next Screen Shot below this one, that's why the pictures are different in this one.

Screen shot for ....Deleting.

To just remove the folder from Picasa2, you would click on 'Remove from Picasa2...' and a menu will come up..see the next screen shot after this one.

Here you will see I have a 'tick' next to 'Remove from Picasa' On the left side, I have the folder....2005-10(oct)(2) highlighted, and in the middle, at the bottom, you will see the same folder highlight with a redX next to it. If you want to remove this folder from Picasa, just click on the 'OK' button.

Here is the folder I have for all the screen shots I made for this tutorial, There is actually thirteen now, because they were added after I took this screen shot.

When you click on 'Remove from Picasa' The Folder Manger will come up, with 'Scan always' 'ticked'. If I was to add more pictures to this folder on the hard drive, Picasa2 will pick it up and add it to the folder here.

As for now this is all I have, and will be adding to it in the future, as the needs arises
